Digitized books

I was just looking around and found this very interesting. Rice University professor Richard Baraniuk explains the vision behind Connexions, his open-source, online education system. It cuts out the textbook, allowing teachers to share and modify course materials freely, anywhere in the world.

I think we may end up resorting to this idea within 15-20 years when hopefully the world will be almost 90% eco friendly. Id love to have our kids schooling be digital and save hundreds on text books that just get updated each year and have it right in your hands already.

I think the ability for teachers from all over the world to contribute to a single source where students can absorb multiple view points regarding the same topic is fantastic. I often wished I could mix the teaching styles in Spain (where I studied for a semester) with how we learn in America. It is a great idea. yay!
