Andy Goldsworthy

As artists, most of us know of Andy Goldsworthy's work.  He is a very respected artist for making installations using nature's materials in the landscape.  After creating these beautiful pieces, he then allows nature to take over.   The installations often fall apart almost immediately, and some over a longer period of time.  It amazes me how he is able to make this work.  Here are a few images.

I remember watching a video about this artist my freshman year in my Visual Thinking class. And I believe each year that Ive attended school here, a mention of his work has come across in class discussions. His work continues to make an impact on all growing artists and patrons all across the world.

I had to do an Andy Goldsworthy project in high school. It was pretty fun, but you don't realize how difficult these are to do unless you try it yourself.

I have always loved Goldsworthys work. The time and effort he puts into each piece is almost painful haha, the film made documenting his life style and artistic process is a must see and shows a truly talented and dedicated artist.

I also had to do a Goldsworthy type sculpture in high school, and it is very difficult. His whole heart and soul goes into this work. To be able to really make this work, he has to have an extreme understanding of the nature of all of the materials he is working with, like ice, stone, leaves, branches. They all behave different, which often causes pieces to fail after he spends a lot of time on them. The movie is also pretty great.
