tesselating leaves

every time i walk down a street with an oak tree i think about tessellations. I keep feeling like these leaves could tessellate, or maybe a few different types of leaves could fit together and continue endlessly... there's just all this really great positive and negative space in these leaves...

if you think about it trees are a form of organic tessellations. they never stop growing unless man makes it that way. they go on and on forever.

I was thinking about tessellations in nature and i realized there are actually more organic tessellations out there than you would think. Here are some examples.

I know exactly what you are talking about! I like to look at EVERYTHING when I'm walking around to see if it can tessellate...

My favorites are pineapple skins and bee hives.
