This particular piece of architecture is based on symmetry. If you were to cut through the center, both sides would be identical (minus the furniture). I think the symmetry provides the room with more interest and it gives it a more contemporary look.

I really like this room. I think that perfect symmetry usually makes something less interesting rather than more. But in this case, the furniture creates a nice balance.
